IWD 2026

Join us for two weeks of events in support of
International Women’s Day

2 – 13 March 2026

The 2026 International Women’s Day Give to Gain theme champions generosity, collaboration, and reciprocity as catalysts for gender equality. When women are supported, opportunities expand, confidence grows, and the impact ripples far beyond individuals. These sentiments strongly reflect the values that sit at the heart of Think Global People and Relocate Global.

Two weeks of activities happening worldwide

This year, activities will span two weeks and take place worldwide, including in-person events in Kent, UK, and Nairn, Scotland, new podcasts, author interviews, dynamic editorials, and much more.

In addition to advancing our eight bedrock principles, see below, agreed in 2025, we are placing a special focus on wellbeing, particularly the restorative power of nature and time outdoors.

8 bedrock principles agreed at Think Global Women International Women’s Day 2025

  • International Experience as a gateway to leadership: support and promote access for women to international roles

  • Practice genuine inclusion: move beyond targets to everyday behaviours that ensure all voices are heard, pre-work reflection, structured rounds, and no-interrupt norms
  • Champion equity to unlock progression: Audit role pipelines for horizontal segregation. Sponsor women visibly; make career opportunities transparent and accessible
  • Invest in conversation skills: Treat feedback, negotiation and conflict as learnable capabilities. Equi Manager with tools and rehearsal time.
  • Explore and support challenges for women at different ages and stages in early life: early employment, Maternity and fertility; menopause, board experience; age discrimination
  • Start early and keep going: From early years to emerging leaders, prioritise confidence, curiosity and critical thinking. Partner schools with employers
  • Design for real lives: assess risk in assignments properly; support families to make remote work visible; normalise boundaries. Inclusion is human-centred by design
  • Succession planning: Pass on what you have learnt; mentoring; networks.

Equity, diversity and inclusion: terminology and implications

Organisations are placing increasing emphasis on equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) as part of their focus on social responsibility within their environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategies. Understanding the terminology and its implications is critical if targeted action is to be successful. Dr Sue Shortland, Professor Emerita, London Metropolitan University, explains.

Dr. Sue Shortland offers key insights from her speech at the recent Think Global Women event in celebration of International Women’s Day. She discusses Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), focusing on workplace equity and the challenges women face, such as horizontal segregation and limited career progression. Sue emphasises the importance of creating a level playing field for women through employer support, particularly in Europe and the UK, where the focus is on equity rather than just diversity statistics.
