CIGNA Healthcare launches enhanced platinum proposition to simplify global healthcare access
Cigna Healthcare Global Individual Health unveils enhanced proposition designed to improve coordination and continuity of care internationally
Health benefits provider Cigna Healthcare has launched its enhanced Platinum proposition, as demand grows for more coordinated cross-border healthcare among globally mobile customers.
The launch comes as the global mobility population continues to grow, bringing new challenges for individuals navigating life, work and healthcare in unfamiliar environments. New research from Cigna Healthcare’s International Health Study: Globally Mobile Edition found that nearly three-quarters (73%) of globally mobile individuals wished they had received more support before relocating, while 76% experienced challenges that prevented them from thriving in their new country.
The findings highlight the complexity of navigating healthcare, local systems and day-to-day life in an unfamiliar environment, and the growing need for personalised support to help individuals access care across borders.
The enhanced proposition is built around a more personalised support experience, with a dedicated Account Manager serving as a single point of contact throughout the purchase and onboarding process. The approach is designed to simplify access to healthcare and support services, helping customers navigate complex healthcare systems more effectively.
A structured onboarding process, including an optional clinician consultation, is designed to help customers better understand and use their coverage, while digital tools provide access to global telehealth and Cigna Healthcare’s international provider network, to support faster access to care across multiple jurisdictions.
Following onboarding, customers benefit from round-the-clock access to customer service teams, providing guidance and support to help them access care and navigate healthcare systems wherever they are in the world. The service is designed to support customers accessing care across different healthcare systems and jurisdictions.
Neil Kirby, CEO, Cigna Global Individual Health said: “Living and working across borders can offer incredible opportunities but it also brings real challenges when it comes to accessing and coordinating care. Platinum is designed to move beyond standard insurance, offering a more personalised, relationship‑led approach to global healthcare. By combining dedicated support with clear guidance and care coordination, it provides customers with a trusted, single point of contact wherever they are in the world.
“For globally mobile individuals, it gives greater peace of mind, knowing they have someone to turn to when they need help understanding their healthcare options, accessing treatment or coordinating care in a different country. For employers, it strengthens the experience for globally mobile teams, supporting attraction and retention by making it easier for employees and their families to access and navigate care.”
Key enhancements include:
- Dedicated Relationship Support: A Platinum Account Manager serves as a single point of contact, providing personalised support to help customers understand their coverage, coordinate next steps, and manage administrative tasks. The service is designed to simplify the customer experience throughout onboarding and ongoing care.
- 24/7 Customer Service: Customers have access to round-the-clock support, helping to reduce friction and support timely access to appropriate care, even in challenging markets.
- Proven Service Excellence – Backed by Cigna’s commitment to service excellence, customers benefit from responsive support and efficient administration, with calls answered in under one minute and 97% of emails responded to within 48 hours, making it easier to navigate healthcare with confidence.
- Tailored Onboarding & Proactive Health Management: A personalised onboarding journey includes a welcome call and optional clinician consultation, helping customers understand their coverage and establish continuity of care from the moment they arrive in a new location.
- Comprehensive Coverage for Complex Needs: Unlimited cover for core hospital and medical services, including maternity, fertility, and mental health benefits, with optional outpatient support for pre-existing conditions for customers aged 40 and over, subject to plan terms, providing access to support for both routine and complex healthcare needs while living internationally.
- Global Flexibility & International Networks: Access to global telehealth, an extensive international provider network and flexible options for where and how to receive care in the locations their plan covers.
The launch reflects Cigna Healthcare’s continued focus on supporting the evolving needs of globally mobile customers, particularly as international movement increases and healthcare systems become more complex to navigate.
